Masao Tachiki, President, Japan Volleyball Association

On behalf of the Japan Volleyball Association, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the official website of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship Japan 2010.

I can promise you that the World Championship will meet your expectations whether you are a player, an official, a journalist or a fan.

Over the course of the Women’s World Championship, 104 top-quality volleyball games will be played at 6 venues in 5 of our beautiful cities, Tokyo, Hamamatsu, Matsumoto, Osaka and Nagoya.

You will be welcomed in every city, all of which have their distinctive Japanese characteristics, and we hope your experience here in Japan will be an unforgettable memory.

The World Championship is growing with every edition, and this time, a record of 96 teams from the FIVB’s five continental federations competed for the 22 vacant berths in the women’s competition.

Along with hosts Japan and defending champions Russia, a total of 24 teams will compete for the World Championship title.

To ensure a smooth organization of the Women’s World Championship 2010, we, the JVA, have been working very closely with the FIVB, host broadcaster TBS, and of course, with the local organizers, and we will not rest or be satisfied until the last point of the last match has been scored on November 14.

Between now and the opening of the Women’s World Championship on October 29, this official website will keep you up to date with news from home and abroad as teams prepare their challenge for honors.

We are sure you will find the official website a big help if you are planning to visit Japan for the World Championship, and we will endeavor to provide the most up-to-date information as the countdown continues.

Welcome to Japan – and to the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship Japan 2010!
